Commuters of Burbank – AJ Hernandez

Burbank commuters come in all kinds. People bike, walk, bus, scoot, carpool, vanpool and drive. This series is intended to share the stories of commuters who demonstrate it’s possible to get to work without driving alone!

This month we’re featuring another amazing commuter!

AJ regularly commutes to his job at The Pointe in Burbank.

Read on to learn more!

Where do you work in Burbank?

AJ:  I work at The Pointe building on Alameda.

How do you get to work on a typical day?

AJ:  On a typical day, I catch the Foothill Transit 185 to the Irwindale Metro Gold Line Station into Pasadena, and then I catch the 501 Express Bus to Burbank; then I walk a block to my building.  I live in the San Gabriel Valley, and if I drove that distance it would be over 50 miles per day.

What is the best part of your commute?

AJ:  Watching the cars on the 210 East at a near standstill as I’m on the Gold Line heading home.

What/who compelled you to begin commuting this way?

AJ:  I began using public transportation after spending nearly 3 hours on the freeway to get home on a Friday, and then began to use it more and more, including for recreation.

Are there any commuting tips that you’d like to share with people working near you?

AJ:  If there was one tip that I would impart to someone considering using public transportation, it would be to use multiple apps and sites to see just how much more efficient and convenient letting someone else do the driving for you is.

Keep Up with AJ on Social Media!
